Online Program Development Fund

The BCcampus Online Program Development Fund (OPDF) awards grants to qualified proposals to support inter-institutional collaboration and partnerships developing online courses, complete programs, learning objects, and virtual or remote access labs. Grants focus on giving students access to more programs to help them complete degrees, diplomas, and certificates. The OPDF also supports collaborative proposals that develop professional learning resources for educator acquisition of skills and knowledge around effective teaching and learning practices. The OPDF begins with a call for proposals. An independent review committee evaluates, selects, and awards the proposals based on a set of criteria in the call for proposals.

Since 2003, the Online Program Development Fund has invested $7.25 million to create online learning resources, resulting in the development of 304 courses, 67 course modules, 318 learning objects, and 26 virtual labs and tools. A complete .pdf map of all Online Program Development Fund development initiatives is available here.

OPDF resources are licensed upfront for remix and reuse and are accessible to all educators across BC’s public post-secondary system through the Shareable Online Learning Resources repository (SOL*R).

The 2009 Online Program Development Fund call for proposals is now open
