MyCreditsBC beta tool is ready
MyCreditsBC.ca will provide a mechanism for BC post-secondary students to easily retrieve unofficial course transcripts from institutions they have attended, and then determine course-by-course transferability options to other BC post-secondary institutions, based on Transfer Agreements maintained by the BC Council of Admissions & Transfer.

Students enter their identity credentials for the college/university where they have completed courses to retrieve their unofficial course records, and this institution verifies and returns their information.
The Transfer Credit database maintained by the BC Council on Admissions & Transfer is accessed and searched to obtain any recorded course equivalencies that match the institution, course code and term. Matches found for any or all BC receiving institutions are displayed.
This tool demonstrates some key advantages of federated data services:
- works the same for students across all Connected institutions
- builds upon an existing, supported transaction, so there is no added development or maintenance effort required at institutions
- leverages an important system service: utilizes a web service to the BCCAT BC Transfer Guide, collectively we provide a service that wasn’t previously possible
The MyCreditsBC.ca tool can also help build momentum for the complete, standards-based transcript exchange service that is under development.It was originally created and demonstrated in 2009 to the steering committee reviewing the business processes of the transfer system in BC, you can see that demonstration here. BCcampus has recently worked with several institutional advisors, faculty and students to simplify its use.

The key next step will be to ask each Connected institution’s Registrar to extend approval to support this use of the existing Get Academic Record transaction, and then their college/university/institute will be added to the list of available institutions students can access their records from.
