Open Data

BCcampus is a leader in the field of Open Educational Resources. A big part of what we do in Curriculum Development and Academic Growth is support, advocate and enhance the development of OER.

Materials developed with resources from the Online Program Development Fund are available in our Shared Online Learning Repository (SOL*R). Through SOL*R, B.C.’s public post-secondary educators can license, contribute to, and use free online learning resources under a B.C. Commons license. We are encouraging our partners to share under a broader Creative Commons license as well.

Reports:

In this section of our corporate web site, you will find a collection of reports and publications, such as our strategic plan, brochures, and service sheets, that describe BCcampus' lines of business. Here's a brief synposis of our activities over the past year.

We also collect data about our services in each institution and publish an annual set of Data Sheets.

These are PDF documents. We realize that’s not really “open” data in that it can’t easily be extracted, manipulated and built upon.

Data:

BCcampus wants to “walk our talk” with our own data. That’s why we’ve also created a set of resources at reports.bccampus.ca and we will continue to add data as we crystallize our internal processes.

At the moment we have available on reports.bccampus.ca:

  • ApplyBC metrics by institution, demographics, and geography
  • OPDF projects by institution, field of study and year.
  • Administrative course information for Collaborative Programs.
Also - here's a spreadsheet and a chart of our services at a glance as of November 2011.

We plan to enhance the reports site with more data and better features. Please send any feedback to communications@bccampus.ca.
